Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto for Audi A4 (B9)

For the B9-generation A4 and A5 with MIB2. CarPlay interface for the factory screen, nothing cut or coded. Left- and right-hand-drive versions.

Audi interior with wireless CarPlay running on the factory display

A vehicle-specific retrofit kit for Audi A4 / A5 B9 (2016 onwards) that adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while keeping the original MIB2 display, MMI controller and instrument cluster fully working.

The B9 platform uses Audi’s MIB2 system with a 7-inch or optional 8.3-inch display. Factory CarPlay was wired-only where fitted, and Android Auto availability varied by market. The Autoconnekt CarPlay interface connects behind the factory head unit and makes both wireless, with nothing cut or coded.

Owners of the earlier A4 (B8, 2009–2016) and other Audi models are covered too — see the Audi brand page for the full fitment list, which covers MMI 2G, 3G, RMC, MIB and MIB2 platforms.

Key features

  • Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Original MIB2 display & MMI controller retained (CarPlay interface)

MIB2 or the older MMI 3G?

The B9 platform is MIB2, but many B8 cars are still on the road and take different parts.

Installation

What fitting an A4 kit involves

Typical workshop time: 2 – 3.5 hours depending on the option chosen.

1

Remove the display trim

The screen and surrounding trim come off with plastic tools. No drilling and no cutting of the dashboard.

2

Connect the harness

The kit harness plugs between the head unit and the original wiring. Every connector is keyed to the car.

3

Fit the module

The module hides behind the dash, on the factory mounting points.

4

Test and refit

CarPlay, Android Auto, the MMI controller, parking sensors and the original menus are tested before the trim goes back.

Frequently asked questions — Audi A4 (B9)

Which Audi A4 generations does this cover?

This page covers the B9-generation A4 and A5 (2016 onwards, MIB2). The earlier B8-generation A4 / A5 (2009–2016, MMI 3G and RMC platforms) is covered with its own dedicated kits on the Audi brand page.

MIB2 or MIB3 — which one does my car have?

The B9 A4 / A5 up to around 2019 uses MIB2, which is what these kits are built for. From roughly 2020 Audi moved to MIB3 with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, which is a different platform — send us your model year and a photo of the screen and we will confirm.

Will I keep the MMI controller and instrument cluster?

Yes. The kit decodes the factory CAN bus, so the MMI rotary controller, steering-wheel buttons and the instrument cluster display all keep working — both in the original menus and inside CarPlay / Android Auto.

Does it work with the Bang & Olufsen sound system?

Yes. The original audio path is retained, so the factory amplifier, speakers and microphone keep working. Music and calls from CarPlay and Android Auto play through the original system, including Bang & Olufsen cars.

Are left- and right-hand-drive versions available?

Yes. The CarPlay interface is built in dedicated LHD and RHD versions — the wiring differs, so we confirm the correct version for your market before dispatch.

Is the installation reversible?

Yes. The CarPlay interface uses a plug-and-play harness and factory mounting points. No wires are cut, so the car can be returned to stock at any time.
