Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto for BMW 5 Series (G30)

For the G30, G31 Touring and G38 long-wheelbase 5 Series with NBT EVO iDrive. Convert factory wired CarPlay to wireless, or add it where the car has none.

BMW 5 Series interior with wireless CarPlay running on the factory display

A dedicated retrofit kit for BMW 5 Series G30 (2017 onwards) that makes CarPlay fully wireless, adds Android Auto, and keeps the factory NBT EVO iDrive and 10.25-inch display working exactly as BMW built them.

Where the car already has factory CarPlay, the kit takes over the connection and makes it fully wireless with no subscription. Where the car has none, it adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto to the same factory screen. Either way the kit connects through a plug-and-play T-harness with nothing cut or coded, and the iDrive controller, steering-wheel buttons and original audio path all keep working.

Key features

  • Factory wired CarPlay becomes fully wireless
  • Android Auto added — never offered by BMW on the G30
  • No subscription — one-time hardware solution
  • iDrive controller & steering-wheel buttons retained
  • Plug-and-play — no cutting, no coding
Why G30 owners upgrade

The three things the factory system gets wrong

Each one is solved without touching the factory electronics.

Wired-only CarPlay

Factory G30 CarPlay needs a cable every single drive. The retrofit makes it fully wireless — phone stays in your pocket and connects on its own.

Subscription expiry

In many markets factory CarPlay was sold as a subscription that runs out. The retrofit is a one-time hardware solution with no recurring cost.

How it works →

No Android Auto at all

BMW never offered Android Auto on the G30. The retrofit adds it alongside CarPlay, with the same iDrive control.

Fitment

What fits the G30 / G31 / G38

One interface covers the NBT EVO platform — matched to your build date, not to the model name.

Vehicle systems are for reference. Every order is matched to your exact model year, build date and options — send us your vehicle details and we confirm the correct part before dispatch.

Installation

What fitting a G30 kit involves

Typical workshop time: 1.5 – 3 hours depending on the option chosen.

1

Remove the display trim

The screen surround comes off with plastic tools. On most G30s the display is held by four screws — no drilling required.

2

Connect the harness

The kit harness plugs between the factory head unit and the original wiring. Every connector is keyed to the car.

3

Fit the module

The module hides behind the dash, on the factory mounting points.

4

Pair and test

Wireless CarPlay is paired once. Cameras, iDrive, steering-wheel controls and the original menus are tested before refitting.

Frequently asked questions — BMW 5 Series (G30)

My G30 already has factory CarPlay — is an upgrade still worth it?

Usually yes. Factory G30 CarPlay is wired-only, needs a cable on every drive, and in many markets runs on a subscription that expires. The retrofit makes CarPlay fully wireless with no recurring cost, and adds Android Auto, which BMW never offered on this platform.

Which G30 model years are covered?

G30, G31 Touring and G38 long-wheelbase cars with NBT EVO (ID5 / ID6) iDrive, from launch onwards. Because options differ between markets, send us your model year and screen type and we confirm the exact part.

Will I lose the factory navigation?

No. The factory navigation, radio, vehicle settings and menus remain fully available. CarPlay and Android Auto run as an additional layer you switch to, and the original iDrive controller operates both.

Does it work with the head-up display?

Yes. The head-up display is driven by the instrument cluster, not the centre screen, so it is unaffected. The factory HUD keeps working exactly as before.

How long does installation take?

A CarPlay interface typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours; a full screen replacement takes 2 to 3 hours. Both are reversible, and a vehicle-specific guide is included with every order.

Do you ship to Europe and the United States?

Yes. Autoconnekt ships direct from Shenzhen worldwide with DHL and FedEx, and we work directly with installers, distributors and online sellers.
