CarPlay / Android Auto Interface for BMW & MINI NBT EVO (ID5 / ID6)

Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, Camera and A/V interface compatible with select BMW vehicles equipped with the EVO infotainment system. The new ITB-EVO delivers an improved user experience while keeping the same BMW and Mini ID5/ID6 compatibility. The key upgrade is full support for factory touchscreen control, so drivers can use CarPlay and Android Auto from the touchscreen as well as the iDrive controller.

BMW & MINI factory screen running wireless CarPlay through an Autoconnekt interface

NBT EVO is the ID5/ID6 generation that arrived in 2017 and carried BMW through to the G-series cars. It looks modern, which is why owners are surprised that wireless CarPlay is either missing or subscription-locked depending on market. This kit adds it permanently, without touching the factory software.

BMW head units are addressed over the factory CAN bus and the video path is tapped at the LVDS link that feeds the screen, so the car keeps its own menu structure and we simply add a second source the driver can switch to.

What stays exactly as it is

How it connects: CAN at the NBT EVO head unit; LVDS loop-through. Nothing is flashed, nothing is coded, and the factory menu is never overwritten - CarPlay and Android Auto simply become an additional source the driver selects.

No. The interface reads the existing CAN frames and adds its own video source; nothing is flashed, nothing is coded, and the original system is untouched. Pull the harness out and the car is exactly as it left the factory.
Yes. The original camera path is looped through the interface, so reverse still brings up the factory image with the factory guidelines. A second camera can be added on top, and 360 or a dash camera is available as an option.
Yes. The interface sits on the original harness with matching plugs. Remove it and the car is back to factory condition - which matters for lease cars, warranty work and resale.
