CarPlay / Android Auto Interface for Audi A8 MMI 3G
Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, Camera and A/V interface compatible with Audi A8 vehicles equipped with the 3G MMI system.
Vehicle system: Audi MMI 3G (A8)
The A8 on MMI 3G runs 2010-2018 with a 7-inch display and a much deeper dashboard assembly than the A4 or A6. Access is the real challenge on this car, not the electronics, so our fitting guide concentrates on the trim sequence and the order in which the panels come out.
MMI 3G cars carry the radio and the screen as separate units, so we take CAN at the air-conditioning panel or gateway and transfer LVDS plus power from the back of the radio. That keeps the MMI menu and the driver information display in charge.
What stays exactly as it is
- MMI rotary controller and steering-wheel buttons
- Driver information display (DIS) audio, phone and navigation data
- Factory radio, CD changer and AMI media interface
- Factory reverse camera and parking graphics
- Factory microphone
- Bang & Olufsen or standard audio path
How it connects: CAN at the air-conditioning panel; LVDS and power from the back of the radio. Nothing is flashed, nothing is coded, and the factory menu is never overwritten - CarPlay and Android Auto simply become an additional source the driver selects.
